Queluz Palace

Cabo da Roca

Cascais

Queluz palace is one of the last that was built in europe in rococo style in the XVIII century. It was the official residence of the Portuguese royal family until they fled to Brazil in 1807 before the Napoleonic invasion.

After lunch we will continue for a getaway to Sintra where we will visit the town center with emphasis on the National Palace of Sintra. We will leave the visit to the interior of the palace for a later time but we will not fail to taste a “queijada de Sintra”. We already know you won’t want to taste just one…

Since we are in Sintra, we will cross this beautiful mountain range, which will make us feel like we are in a small tropical country due to the peculiar microclimate of this mountain, and will head towards the westernmost point of the European continent. If you really want to visit the westernmost point of Europe you must travel to the Azores and choose the beautiful and flowery tropical island, Flores.

We will descend from the mountain range next to the Atlantic and feel a visual change from dense forest to a harsh climate almost desert-like, windy, hot and dry but with the beautiful Guincho beach suitable for nautical activities.

From the “desert” we move in a few minutes to another of our country’s most desirable towns, Cascais. If you still have a bit of breath left, we invite our special guests to go down from the fortress to the town center. We will return along the beautiful coastal road, leave the sea view on our right and enter the Tagus River, always by road of course.

hello.
